Start your day in a great way with this blackcurrant smoothie

Sue Bedford (MSc Nutritional Therapy)

Blackcurrants contain organic acids, tannins, pectin, essential oils, trace elements. They are also rich in vitamins K, B, E. Blackcurrants are also a fantastic source of vitamin c which is an important fertility friendly nutrient.

Natural live yoghurt is great for the gut as it contains friendly probiotic bacteria (such as lactobacillus)- all health starts in the gut. It is also a good source of protein, calcium and provides selenium too.

Blackcurrant smoothie

• 300 g of fresh or frozen blackcurrants

• 200g tub Natural live yoghurt

• Splash of milk chilled – your choice of milk

Combine the blackcurrants, yoghurt and milk in a blender and process until smooth.

Why not make into a smoothie bowl and sprinkle with blueberries, strawberries and pumpkin seeds for that extra nutrient boost? Enjoy!
