US sports presenter Erin Andrews undergoing seventh IVF cycle

Popular US sports presenter Erin Andrews has revealed she is currently having her seventh IVF cycle in eight years

The 43-year-old recently told she has been undergoing fertility treatment since she was 35 and decided to speak out to break through the taboos and shame associated with infertility.

The veteran broadcaster said in an essay she compiled for Bulletin: “I have been trying to do IVF treatment for a while now, but sometimes it doesn’t go the way you want it.

“Every cycle in a woman’s body is different, so some months are better than others.

“When I heard this was the best time to go through another treatment, I had to figure it all out again. How am I going to juggle this treatment on top of my work schedule? I got so stressed out. When this happens it really makes you question: Is it the future of my family or is it my job?”

Erin, who is married to former NHL player Jarrett Stroll. kept her fertility journey a private matter for many years but recently felt the time was right to open up about what she has been through.

She said: “I work in an industry where I think women feel the need to keep things like this quiet. But no, there are so many other women who may be put their careers on the back burner because they don’t want to miss out on any opportunities. It is so common that people are starting families late and put so many aspects of their lives on hold.”

Erin said her bosses had been hugely supportive and even encouraged her to be open about her journey.

She said: “I’m trying to have a baby. I am not ashamed, and I want to be vocal and honesty about this.”

Her message concludes by encouraging people to show themselves love and compassion.

She said: “Instead of feeling ashamed, we need to give ourselves more love. It freaking sucks because it can seem like such a lonely thing. There are so many of us going through this, and it’s just not talked enough about.”
