The Natwest Group has said it will introduce discounted fertility benefits for its 59,000 staff
Bank employees can access IVF, treatment with donor eggs and sperm, as well as sperm freezing and support for those in same-sex couples or the LGBTQ+ community.
According to employeebenefit.co.uk, the UK bank will offer discounts ranging from five percent to 20 percent depending on the treatment type, with all employees able to get a ten percent discount off the cost of IVF.
The bank said in a statement that it had identified a gap in support and funding for fertility treatment, and has implemented services including information and services on IVF, egg freezing, recurrent miscarriages, IUI, and all areas of reproductive health in partnership with fertility healthcare provider Fertifa.
The new benefits were introduced after a group of staff contacted the bank’s HR department asking for more support in the area.
The provision aims to create a support network for any staff affected by fertility and loss issues, including miscarriage, IVF, adoption, surrogacy, and baby loss.
Senior Natwest banker, Asma Ali, who founded the fertility and loss network, said: “Having gone through fertility issues and miscarriages, I know how this impacts people. It can be a very lonely time for individuals.”
