Hollywood A-lister Jennifer Aniston has told a US magazine people must stop asking about why she doesn’t have children
The 52-year-old last spoke about being childless a couple of months after splitting from her second husband, Justin Theroux in 2017 to Instyle magazine in which she talked about people having opinions on her life and being childless.
The Friends star said there was a huge pressure on women to have children and if they do not – for whatever reason – they are deemed ‘damaged goods’.
In her most recent interview, with The Hollywood Reporter, she was asked how attention paid to her personal life has affected her career.
She said: “I used to take it personally – the whole pregnancy rumours and ‘oh, she put her career before having kids’ assumption. It’s like “you have no clue what’s going on with me personally, medically, why I can’t…can I have kids?” They don’t know anything, and it’s really hurtful and just nasty.”
The actress, who is best known for starring in romantic comedies, such as Picture Perfect and The Break-up, was married to actor Brad Pitt for five years before they divorced and she married another actor, Justin Theroux in 2015.
Her life has been plagued by questions on whether she would or would not have children; a subject she appears to find wholly intrusive.
She said: “Dolly Parton never had kids. But are people giving her sh*t for it? No, no one’s tried to put her in a picket white fence.”
