Former Bachelor contestant, Caroline Lunny, has revealed she has been on a fertility journey, and she is ready to talk
The 31-year-old real estate agent said in the past two years she has had eight surgeries to freeze her eggs, having found out she had a very low Anti-Mullerin Hormone(AMH) level, at just 0.4. A normal range is between 2.5 and 3, anything above could indicate polycystic ovarian syndrome, anything below could mean a low egg reserve.
Soon after taking a test with one of the sponsors of the Bachelor, Modern Fertility, Caroline decided to consult her doctor.
She didn’t get the response she had expected as her doctor did not take her seriously.
She said: “I had to lie to her. I told her I didn’t get my period and we’d been having unprotected sex.
“She agreed to see me but I shouldn’t have had to argue. That’s frustrating. So anyone who is listening or reading this, please, please, please test your fertility health, fight back with your doctor.”
Caroline got some tests and her doctor soon confirmed the news she had been trying to tell them – her AMH level was even lower.
She changed her doctor and began the process of freezing her eggs
She said: “If I could go back in time, I would have frozen my eggs at the age of 20. Your egg quality goes down every day. Your egg quality goes down every month. Time is not on your side.”
She told US Weekly that she was still positive despite having to put her life on hold for two years to protect her future fertility.
She said: “I’ve had to hit pause on my life for two years because this has needed my undivided attention. And it would be nice to be able to put my energy and efforts into literally anything else. But I want to be a mum one day, so this is what I have to do.”
