An Australian fashion designer has announced she is pregnant with her first child after going through major surgery to help her chronic endometriosis
Sabo Skirt founder Thessy Kouzoukas revealed the news that she was five months pregnant with her fiance Georgio Batsinilas.
But the journey to pregnancy has been a long one, she went through early menopause after an operation to remove a large cyst from her left ovary and Fallopian tubes at just 27.
It was only when she came around from the operation that the extent of her endometriosis was realised to be stage four.
She decided to be open about her emotional journey to give hope to others on a similar path.
The couple began IVF soon after Thessy recovered and did two rounds before it was a successful.
“When I woke up from surgery they told me I could never fall pregnant naturally and if I wanted children I should do it then and now.,” she told the Daily Mail. “We got pushed right into it and for me that was the hardest part.”
Thessy hopes to use her Instagram account to get the message out into the world on endometriosis and how crippling it can be.
