Researchers are celebrating after being awarded a $50,000 grant to study Artificial Intelligence and IVF in clinical practice
The grant, entitled the 2021 Monash University Data Futures Institute Seed Grant, was awarded to Dr Fabrizzio Horta and will be a collaboration between the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Department of Data Science and AI, headed up by Professor Jianfei Cai and assistant Professor Hamid Rezatofhigi.
Dr Horta said: “This grant will help us to support our current research, aiming to develop a clinical decision support system in IVF through deep learning algorithms. Particularly this grant aims to target one of the global challenges we are facing by introducing Artificial Intelligence technology into clinical practice. Thus, it will not just have a local impact, but a global impact in the IVF field through strong international research collaboration”.
“We are very excited to receive this seed grant to support our research in artificial intelligence in IVF with a focus on a global challenge.”
Artificial Intelligence is already being used in some elements of researching IVF including the selection of top-grade embryos and medical imaging.
