Cheryl Tweedy speaks out on why she’s considering a sperm donor

It’s no secret that singer Cheryl has had a somewhat tumultuous past when it comes to relationships. In fact, the Girls Aloud star freely admits that “she’s not very good at choosing the right men”

But that doesn’t stop her wanting more children, and Cheryl is now considering sperm donation as a way of having a sibling (or more) for her son Bear, now 2 years old.

36 year old Cheryl had Bear with fellow singer Liam Payne from One Direction, but since their split in 2018, she doesn’t want Bear to be her only child.

So she intends to have “more than one” baby via a sperm donor. But as she told The Times Magazine recently, although the thought of the treatment makes her “very happy”, she’s keen to look further afield than her native Newcastle for a suitable donor.

She said: “If time was on my side and I was in my twenties, I would wait and consider more options, or wait for somebody I felt was right”

But she went on, “You could meet somebody and for that year it feels incredible, but there is never a guarantee because there are so many variables that can happen. Life is a funny old game”.

Cheryl is now considering sperm donors from abroad, remarking on how awkward it could be if “some guy from Newcastle said “that’s my child””.

She admits that the decision requires a lot of thought and some careful consideration

When speaking about her past relationships, she says that she’s attracted to men that have traits she doesn’t like, and calls herself a bit of a contradiction. Like so many, she becomes attracted to people she thinks she can help.

But she also said that thankfully she’s in a good place now and has overcome the upset of past relationships

“I’ve come so far past all that” she says, adding, “I’m so happy now. I am happy with who I am and where I am in my life, and with my situation and my son”.

“I didn’t need to choose him. He chose me! And it’s changed my world view. It’s changed everything for me in the best way. I had to reassess myself as a person, as a woman, as an older woman.”

Cheryl, we wish you all best!
