Yesterday we received the tragic news that the utterly beautiful human being Emily Hartridge died on Friday after being hit by a truck while out in London riding her electric scooter.
We, like many of her 48k instagram followers were a little bit besotted with Emily. Her energy, her passion and her lust for life, was contageous. We were mesmorised by her YouTube videos and loved that she was never scared to open up to her audience. She was an advocate for mental health and spoke with raw honesty. She motivated and inspired thousands of people every single day.
So to read this post on her wall yesterday was like a punch in the heart..
“This is a horrible thing to have to say over Instagram but we know many of you were expecting to see Emily today and this is the only way to contact you all at once. Emily was involved in an accident yesterday and passed away.
“We all loved her to bits and she will never be forgotten. She has touched so many lives, it’s hard to imagine things without her. She was a very special person.”
We first became huge fans of Emily we we learnt about her egg freezing journey.
At the age of 32, and following years of bad dates, Emily decided to give up online dating and instead looked into egg freezing. With the worry that she might not meet the right person until it was too late, it seemed like the right path to take.
“After spending eight years being let down, ghosted and lied to by hopeless men on dating apps, I refused to miss my chance at motherhood,” she said.
“I’m so glad Tinder made me turn to egg freezing – it revealed my low fertility levels in time for me to do something about it. Whatever happens with my love life, I know I’ve done all I can to have a child one day.”
Life never goes to plan
Emily started the process at the London Women’s Clinic. Tests revealed that she had very low fertility levels and was advised to start treatment immediatley. Life never goes to plan though does it, and just as Emily had given up on men, she met Jake, the perfect man she thought she would never meet, two weeks before her tretment started. Despite the bad timing, Emily continued on her egg freezing journey.
Emily’s energy will live on
Emily was cruely taken way too early, but she leaves behind her beautiful energy that will stay in the hearts of thousands. The quote we wil leave you with rings so true, especially amongst the TTC community. Thank you for touching our lives Emily.
We want to end with Emily’s words:
“Never apologise for being sad. For being angry. For wanting to cry. For being happy. For being sensitive. You are being real and you are being YOU and that is something to be celebrated.”
We send all of our love and thoughts to Emily’s boyfriend, family and friends.
