US rapper Eve has opened up about her fertility struggles on The Talk, a show she co-hosts during the national awareness week
The 40-year-old admitted for the first time that she felt ‘shame’ at not yet being able to conceive, despite actively trying.
She told her fellow co-hosts and the audience that she had previously talked about her struggle but now felt the pressure.
She said: “I’ve talked about my struggle with getting pregnant and I didn’t talk about it for a long time because I felt shameful.
“As a woman, you just think things will happen naturally and I felt like I was damaged. I felt like I was broken...maybe I’m not good enough. It’s a very sad, hurtful thing, but the more I held onto it the worse I actually felt about myself.”
But since she began sharing people have been really sweet to her.
She said: “Even in the audience, people have actually come to me and hugged me and said ‘You deserve it, it’s going to happen for you.’ So thank you to the audience here.”
She also talked about being annoyed at people for asking when she was going to have children.
She said: “It annoys me because one time, one of my friends, a male friend said to me, ‘When are you going to give my friend some kids?’” she added. “As a man you don’t — anyone! No one should do it. We are trying, for anybody who is asking, but it’s up to God and the universe. Just stop asking questions.”
Eve has been married to Max Cooper for the past five years, after the couple wed in Ibiza, Spain in 2014.
She is a stepmother to his four children.
