The beginning of a new year is always a good time to take a step back and re-evaluate how we are doing with respect to our health
That is why the organisers of this year’s Canadian Fertility Show have decided to focus the event on overall health and wellbeing for 2019.
Dr. Marjorie Dixon and Dr. Jodie Peacock said they often wonder why fertility is left out of the larger conversation about our overall health.
“Fertility issues affect one in six Canadians who wish to start a family. And yet, our fertility is not a factor that we generally look at when we think about our health and wellbeing goals,” says Dr. Peacock. “Now is the time to change this. If a family is something that you are considering at some point in the future, you should aim to have a good grasp of how you are doing in terms of your reproductive health today.
“The bottom line is that many men and women are missing out on the life of their dreams, simply because they failed to understand the intricacies of their personal fertility stories soon enough.”
In 2018 Dr Peacock founded the Canadian Fertility Show, bringing together leading industry experts to showcase the full spectrum of educational materials and support systems that are available for prospective Canadian parents.
In 2019 the show enters its second year with an impressive roster of 25 speakers and over 50 exhibitors in all areas of family planning
Fields ranging from reproductive medicine, natural medicine and psychology, to that of legal advice for those seeking to adopt, are all represented.
“It’s really all about options,” Dr Peacock continues. “Our team at the Canadian Fertility Show is committed to providing Canadians with the most up-to-date information possible, so they are equipped to make the best choices for themselves and their future. If you are considering a family in the future, this is a great opportunity to collect all the information you need in one stop.”
As a means of continuing to educate Canadians about their family planning options, Dr Dixon and Dr. Peacock have put together an annual fertility checklist. This list is meant to act as a yearly reminder to check in on your reproductive health and ensure everything is in order.
The Canadian Fertility Show will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 9.30am to 5.00pm at the International Centre, Mississauga
Both Dr Dixon and Dr Peacock will be at the show.
