Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke has spoken openly about his and his wife, Hannah’s journey to parenthood
The 52-year-old and his businesswoman wife welcomed twins via IVF in March and married just a few weeks later in a secret ceremony organised entirely by Anton.
The dancer told the Irish Independent how the couple met nine years ago when Anton was in his mid-forties and got engaged on Christmas Day 2017.
He said Hannah had been diagnosed with endometriosis earlier in her life and they now were keen to be open about their fertility struggles.
When talking about IVF he said it was ‘tough’ but it brought the couple closer together.
“I just think it was a shared experience. It just fills you with even more admiration for somebody who goes through that. We were fortunate that we got it on the first go. But it’s a massive thing.
“I feel like you do that thing where you just pick her up and carry her through. That’s what I felt my job was. There’s nothing I can do. I can’t take the injections. So what do I do? How can I make this better? And that’s my responsibility. That’s my role in this.”
The twins, a boy and girl, George and Henrietta, are now nine-months-old and are doing well.
Asked how he found fatherhood, he said: “It’s the most incredible thing. It’s inexplicable. I love every second of it.”
