In the 40th year of IVF, we have launched the second stage of our biggest campaign yet by giving away free IVF cycles to the #TTC (Trying To Conceive) community to celebrate the 40th birthday of the World’s first IVF baby, Louise Brown.
IVFbabble co-founders, Tracey Bambrough and Sara Marshall-Page, who have both had children successfully through IVF, are keen to give something back to the many couples going through infertility, particularly at a time when the NHS is closing its doors on IVF.
Tracey said: “This is such a poignant and important year for IVF, just 40 years ago the first baby was born using this pioneering technique and we wanted to do something special to mark that momentous occasion. We are so excited to be able to work together with such fantastic clinics across the UK, Europe and rest of the World.”
Here is why they feel so passionate about giving back and breaking the silence . . .
Sara said: “It is utterly devastating that there are thousands of couples out there who would dearly love to become parents but are trapped in a situation in which they cannot afford treatment. The emotional and physical strain of infertility is extremely distressing and isolating and can have a serious impact on a person’s mental health. We want to bring some hope to couples who otherwise feel their journey has come to an end.”
Tracey said: “We can’t thank the amazing clinics enough who are joining us to make this happen. Together we can bring so much joy to others in the 40th year of IVF.”
Louise Brown, who is a regular IVF Babble columnist said “My mum would be amazed at the way IVF has developed and the techniques available to people today. I was given the middle name of Joy, because they felt IVF would bring the joy of children to so many people. This initiative by IVF Babble is an exciting way to mark the 40th anniversary by spreading joy and hope.”
