Tia Mowry-Hardrict: “I don’t allow my fertility issues to define me”

Sister, Sister actress Tia Mowry-Hardrict has opened up about her fertility struggles, telling the world she won’t allow her fertility to define her.

The 39-year-old popular American actress already has seven-year-old son, Cree, with husband, Cory Hardrict, and recently spoke out after announcing her second pregnancy and her struggle to conceive.

Tia suffers with endometriosis and was diagnosed in her late 20s.

She told parents.com in 2012: “Not being able to have kids was an immediate fear. It made me feel out of control. I knew that I desperately wanted to have children and after speaking with a nutritionist that came recommended by my doctor, I was reassured that with the right eating habits and lifestyle changes (no sugar, no carbs!), I would have a better possibility of getting pregnant.

“I became extremely health conscious, changed my diet, and I think those changes helped with ultimately getting pregnant.”

The couple are expecting a girl, after hosting a gender reveal party.

She said about her desire to have another child: “I didn’t think I’d be able to have a second child, and it’s been over seven years since my first pregnancy. I put it off, but, I did want to have another child.”

“I didn’t let my infertility issues define me or define what my goals were and what I wanted out of life. We did try for a long time. It was hard. But I didn’t give up.”

Tia is due in Spring 2018 and we wish her and Cory every happiness.
