Women with endometriosis and intense pain could lead to fertility problems

A new study by a Paris University has revealed that women who suffer intense pain caused by endometriosis have more chance of having problems with infertility

Endometriosis is caused by cells collecting in areas outside the uterus, such as the intestine or stomach. It can cause excruciating pain, especially around the time of menstruation.

It is said that one in ten women suffer from endometriosis(link to Emma’s story, which can cause fertility issues.

Descartes University researchers have found that women who reported suffering severe pain, as opposed to mild symptoms, took longer to conceive

The study looked at women from 2004 to 2007 and it was discovered that 422 of these women had failed to conceive after one year of trying.

The results of the study were presented at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology congress in Geneva.
